Uday Kotak observes, “Markets and economies worldwide are in a state of constant tumult led on by a string of known and unknown unknowns. In a connected world, the ever changing global flows of money, ideas and people, has led to unpredictability being the new norm. This timely book makes meaning of the many seemingly disparate, yet interconnected sequences that inform these events, to help the reader benefit from this creative chaos.

Uday Kotak, Executive Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited launched ‘The Making of India – Game Changing Transitions’ – a book by Akhilesh Tilotia, Associate Director and thematic analyst with Kotak Institutional Equities.

The book traces the arc of India’s demographic dividend through the varied transitions taking place in the economy from their finding of jobs to making their homes. The book documents and forecasts the forces shaping India’s employment market, its cities, its industry and agriculture and its equation with the rest of the world.

In conversation with Uday Kotak, Tilotia underscored key social, political and economic transformations that India is undergoing today which herald massive opportunities as well as challenges for the nation and its citizens, government and investors. These stakeholders would do well to appreciate that these changes come from unexpected places and directions.

Commenting on the book, Uday Kotak observes, “Markets and economies worldwide are in a state of constant tumult led on by a string of known and unknown unknowns. In a connected world, the ever changing global flows of money, ideas and people, has led to unpredictability being the new norm. This timely book makes meaning of the many seemingly disparate, yet interconnected sequences that inform these events, to help the reader benefit from this creative chaos.”

Tilotia is optimistic about India as it dismantles the many distortions in its factor markets and public goods, which he believes will give rise to opportunities for those willing to harness this change. He points out that “as the identity of Indian citizens and their money digitizes, how Indians interact with each other and their government is changing for the better. Increased material prosperity of Indians, especially if the gains are well-shared, will force a radical rethink of India’s urbanization, agriculture, employment creation and consumption.”

The Making of India will be available at all leading book stores and online outlets from February 9, 2015. The book is priced at Rs. 500.
